Sep. 11th, 2003 09:41 amI haven't really been doing a lot lately, or rather I have been doing a lot but none of it is all that noteworthy and it keeps me too busy to update my LJ. Recently my parents and brother have been real dicks about the car thing. I keep getting emails from my mom about all the trouble it's causing everyone. Yeah, tell me about it, I'm stuck driving a gas guzzler that doesn't handle as well as a tricycle, I have no CD player, and I keep hearing shit from everyone else when my original idea (new used car for me) would have saved everyone a lot of trouble and pain. Basically I've been feeling really shitty like the whole family's mad at me (I think they pretty much are), and I'm mad at them back, but I don't like it. At this point, I really just want the Corsica back, even if it is a deathwish piece of shit. It's like a home to me...I used to spend so much time in that car. It's my pal.
Work's about the same. Matt got engaged, and now he is counting the days (something like 330 now) until he gets to have sex. He's 25, Lauren's 23, and they're waiting for each other. I think it's sweet, but I don't understand the distinction between married and engaged when you know you're going to be together for the rest of your lives anyway. A wedding is little more than a party to celebrate something you already know. But it's still sweet so good for them. Yesterday at work, Colleen was about to write me a blank check to go to Michael's and get decorating stuff, and as I was making my plans, Cheri comes out of the back and rewrites the plan. Bah! I like Cheri a lot, but here is a woman who has no sense of style or decorative taste. She pulls out these ratty, nasty fake flowers and tells me to just use those for now, and then she'll go to the store and buy more of them to match. 1. The flowers look like shit. 2. The flowers don't work well for fall decorations. 3. There aren't enough to fill one flower basket, and knowing Cheri, she'll either forget to buy more or not buy enough more. Argh! But I did get to redo the pearl case. We got 30 new pearl pieces in, so I spent the afternoon arranging them. I like doing that stuff. Of course, once I'm done, Christina comes over and rearranges everything...that bugs me, but I've decided I will just accept that as the way things are and I'll change it back on her day off.
School's good. Classes are fine so far. My hardest class to date is weightlifting - I'm crazy sore. But I did catch a break. They're doing construction around the track, so we don't have to run. It's just weightlifting. The class is fun and Coach Soltis is cool, but he's kind of dumb...yesterday we had to do three different workouts that worked our quads, while completely ignoring the rest of our legs. My quads were sore enough going into the class...but damn. Maybe I'll mention that to him if he tries to do that again - hey, uh, coach, one exercise per muscle group will suffice. My history classes are really fun. Dr. Fogarty is almost exactly like Ross from Friends. His mannerisms are identical, and he even looks and sounds like him. I'll try to get a short video one day.
I should do some homework now though.
Peace.
