Time to talk about my shower. Not the rub-a-dub-dub one but the wedding one. Emily G. threw it for me in Charlottesville. I had no clue where we were going until we were there. It was at Glaze and Blaze on the downtown mall. That's one of those places where you go in and pick out pottery, then you glaze it (paint it, essentially), and in a week you come back and you have a finished piece. It's really cool - I'd never done it before. Anyway the deal was, everyone picked out something to make, and they were all for me in the end. Rah! Everyone did really cool things. Let's see if I can remember them all and give credit where credit is due. Jamie did a flower soap or candle dish...we were discussing the nature of the piece and couldn't come to a strong consensus on its purpose but it's pretty and I suppose I'll use it for soap or candles - oooh, maybe candy. Marta did a pitcher/vase. Elana did a menorah at my request because Jeremy is really into religious symbols from the near east. I like it, too, but Jeremy is really excited about that one in particular. Emily G. did a cookie jar type thing with polka dots. Very cute. Emily Vancho and Leanne each did a plate with a cool geometric pattern. They used compasses. It was very high tech. Emily G's mom did a deviled egg tray. Apparently, I am supposed to entertain and I have a very specific request:) Emily's grandmother did either two little canisters or pitchers - I'm drawing a blank. She was so worried she was messing it up, but I think they look great. Erin did a plate with a quote on it - "Open your eyes, dream but don't guess, the biggest surprise comes after yes." I think I got that right. Patty Ann did a serving tray on which she hand painted a floral design. She definitely wins the most natural artistic tallent award. My mother did a wine cooler for us - not like a Bartles and James but a tall, straight container that you put ice in with a glass of wine. I can't believe my mother did that ;) Nancy did a veggie tray with a cute floral painting. I think that's everything. I had a great time hanging out and catching up with some of the folks I haven't seen in ages. I can't wait till my bachelorette party - hopefully they'll all make an appearance:)

Speaking of events leading up to the wedding, here's the plan. Friday, I am taking a half day at work, and candleman has very graciously offered to teach a private candle-making class for all of my friends. So hear now! EVERYONE is invited to come to Massanutten (meet at my house I guess) on Friday, Sept. 3, sometime in the afternoon which I will decide later, for a candlemaking extravaganza. It's way fun. And you get to keep all the candles you make (usually three big ones and a votive). It's $10 a person, but if you were gonna just buy the candles you'd pay $30 for all we're making so it's a good deal. Anyone who wants to can stay the night at my house. Saturday, all the rehearsal stuff is in the afternoon, so that we can get to Charlottesville at night for the GIRLYMAN concert at the Gravity Lounge. That's my bachelorette party. Then the girls are staying the night in Charlottesville (prolly at Mom's house), waking up early the next morning for hair and *gasp* makeup, then heading to Bridgewater and marrying me off.

And now, work.
Peace.
