Oct. 24th, 2005 04:37 pmTime goes really slowly I don't have music playing. My CD player is still fucking up, and my yahoo launchcast player froze about 15 minutes ago, after almost a whole day of pretty good music. I finally figured out how to add artists to my list of favorites without having to wait for Yahoo to decide to play them. But now I'm bummed 'cause I have nothing to listen to and the office seems so dull like that.
I called the Prince William County Clerk to see if I could get the tickets dropped without going to court, if I mailed in my receipts from updating the inspection and registration. The clerk said that I could do that, and then the judge might drop them. Okay, I said, well how will I know if the judge is going to drop them? She said to call the day after my court date. Something wasn't adding up...
"So I can mail the receipts, not go to court, and if the judge doesn't drop the tickets, then what?"
"Then you get arrested for failure to appear in court."
Yeah, not a chance I want to take. Luckily, though, Steve Brubaker, the collections manager, spends every Tuesday in court suing out delinquent owners, so he has this program on his computer where he can look up any court case in Virginia. He advised me to mail the receipts and a letter with a check to cover the court costs (which I'd owe anyway), and he'll look it up before my court date to see if the case was dropped. If it's not, I'll just mail another check to cover the rest of the cost of the tickets, and not go to court either way. It's just not worth taking a day off work, driving to NOVA and back, and still paying court costs either way. So it's all good. And for the first time in the four months that I've worked in this office, Steve was good for something.
Damn switchboard operators who don't know how to use the fucking phone tree!
Why do I always get a confused asshole at 4:59?!
