Things haven't really gone as planned this past week. When I got home from my folks' place on Sunday night, Jer was sick with what I am just now starting to get over. He came home from work a little early to rest, and I left for work as usual yesterday morning. Everyone was late to work, except Melinda and me. Like, really late. When Tammi got there around 10, she informed us that no one else was coming in - they'd all called in sick. I'm going about my business, not feeling too terribly ill, until about lunchtime. I started getting dizzy again, and now I'm convinced it's the building. I talked to Tammi about it and told her I was really concerned. She thinks I'm paranoid, because she and Melinda were both fine (although both of them also had problems with dizziness the week before). She offered to let me leave early, but I didn't want to do that, so I toughed it out, going outside every half hour for fresh air until the end of the day. Before coming home, I went to Food Lion to get some medicine for Jer and some movies to watch. The medicine aisle was bare. Apparently, the entire east side of Rockingham County has this bug. I was able to find some ibuprofen cold medicine, and went on to the video place. We watched 40-year-old virgin, which is one of those movies that's painful for me to watch because of the awkwardness of the protagonist. I liked it a lot, but some scenes were just so (intentionally) awkward that I had to cringe. I'm hot for Steve Carrell now, though;)

We were supposed to have gone to Roanoke last night for a family gathering with Jer's side, but with my dizziness and Jer's incapacitating illness, that was a no-go. We were both really bummed to miss it, but we made the most of the relaxing night together. Hopefully we'll be able to get down there together in the not-so-distant future.

Keep your eyes peeled for new pictures of my niece on my brother's website, www.sbillmassie.com. The Christmas ones aren't up yet, but she was sooooo precious. And I'm not just saying that because she's my niece. She really is the cutest little girl I've ever seen. And so sweet! More on that later.

Peace.

First, I was sad, because when I checked the Gravity Lounge's website to buy my Kennedys tickets for January, I saw they'd cancelled the show. But then, I was thrilled to see that they'd booked Girlyman for February 12th. I realized that many of my favorites would be booking shows for 2006 right about now, so I started scanning websites. Then I was thrilled again to see a Crooked Still show in Charlottesville - only to be crushed that it's the SAME NIGHT as the Girlyman show. But THEN, I checked times. Crooked Still at the Prism at 4, Girlyman at the Gravity Lounge at 8. So now I'm ecstatic because I can go to both (but still a little sad that I can't do both CS sets).

So........
Who's coming?
Kerry Frey? Care to make a trip? It's a Sunday, which is elsucko, but neither band has NOVA anywhere on their agenda yet, and it would be sooooo worth being tired at work (or taking a sick day!)
Anyone else?

Lemme know. And keep in mind that I would rather you say "No, I'm not interested," than string me along with a "maybe" that you have no intention of following up on. In fact, I'll wish plagues upon you if you do the latter.

Peace.

Oh my, what a day! Here's what I've penned in so far (because when it comes to concerts and Meg T, there is no pencilling in):

January 6: Mike Clem - Jammin' Java
January 14: EFO - The Birchmere
February 12: Crooked Still - The Prism early set 4pm
February 12: Girlyman - Gravity Lounge 8pm
April 23: The Mammals - Gravity Lounge
July 19-25: Falcon Ridge Folk Festival

It's a pretty healthy start for this early in the year. As always, expect more as the dates draw nearer. I'm so thrilled that my cousin Laura and loverboy John are on board for the Feb 12th mini-fest! :)

Peace.
