(no subject)

I had to work on the navy base today, and I had no idea how long it would take me to get through security.  The only thing I knew for sure was that it would take a long time.  So I went super early and was on the road at 5am.  I got in at 6 and was quite early for my 7am appointment.  Even though I always know the numbers in advance, I always ask the managers how many people they're expecting for me, because a lot can change between their confirmation and their actual appointment.  He told me "Well, we heard it was going to take a long time and we figured you couldn't do everyone in one day, so we sent them all to the kiosk to register themselves."  "Um, okay, so how many are left?"  "Just a few."  The first guy came in and I had him in and out in 90 seconds.
"That's all?!"
"Yeah..."
"Shit."

See, the reason I go out to these places is so that I can register big groups and save them the trouble of waiting in line at the self-registration kiosk.  I even told this guy on the phone when I made the appointment that I would have no trouble getting to his 130 employees in an eight-hour day.  But you know, I'm glad they didn't believe me, because I got to bail really early and head to Charlottesville in time to surprise my mom and lots of friends at the bridge club, then take a nap before going to my favorite yoga class, and then I had dinner at Bodo's with my mom and cousin.  All in all, a really fantastic day.  Except the up before dawn crap.  But, whatever, I'm pretty much used to that by now.

We're leaving early tomorrow to get in some good tailgating, then hopefully some good football.  I hear the weather's going to be pretty crappy, so I might be really uncomfortable, but as long as the Hokies win, I'll be a happy girl.  Given the way Clemson has played lately, though, I can't say I'm bursting with confidence.  But I'm excited and I know we can win, and if we do, it'll be a big one.  So, go tech!
