It's so great to be in Brooklyn.  I've spent my first two evenings here over at my brother's place, enjoying lots of time with my nieces.  Bess is so tiny, and SO GOOD.  She hardly cries at all, and she's perfectly content to be held and snuggled.  Of course I adore her.  Frankie is definitely having a little bit of trouble adjusting, but luckily for me, the way that she acts out is to be extra cuddly.  I don't mind that!  She spends a lot of time giving hugs and being super sweet.  She's also learning some things about babies and mommies, obviously, because she asked me yesterday, "Do you got boobies?"  When I said yes, she pulled down my shirt and goes "Lemme see 'em!"  My brother was HORRIFIED.  "HEY!  You two take that someplace private!"  Heh.

Also, when I refer to Bess as "your sister," Frankie corrects me and says "she's not my sister, she's my LITTLE sister."  Lucy is her sister.  Lucy got there this evening, and tomorrow I get to spend the day with her.  When I asked her what she wanted to do, she said "we should go to the post office to mail all your letters."  I guess that means I should write some letters.  William said I should also take her to see The Lorax and to eat crepes.  Sounds like a great day to me.

I was reading with her at bedtime, and she wanted me to read Clementine.  I never read that when I was a kid, but I got so into it!  I kept reading it for another 20 minutes after she fell asleep, just 'cause I wanted to see what Clementine was up to.  Lucy also wanted to quiz me on state capitals.  I love that my nieces are turning into little brainiacs.

Speaking of brainy girls...William and Rachel have been telling Frankie that "now" is a "trouble word."  That's a term William came up with because most of Frankie's tantrums involve demanding something NOW, and he wants her to work on concepts like "soon" or "later."  So anyway she was doing more chatting and playing than eating at dinner last night, and William was having a hard time getting her to eat.  He said "Frankie, please eat your perogies now."  "'Now' is a trouble word, Daddy.  I'll eat them soon."  Smart kid.  Except that perogies are awesome so why wouldn't she want to eat them now?

Tonight, she dressed up as a doctor and dressed me up as a cowboy, so I took my horses to the hospital for her to examine.  Once she'd given medicine to all my horses, she wanted me to bring her horses in, too.  She named the first horse "Thunder," so I decided the second one was "Lightning."  She named my last horse "Old Bank."  When I brought her horse in, I asked her what its name was.  "Fucker!"  "What was that, Frankie?"  "FUH-KER."  Okay then.  Honestly, I think she just picked two syllables...I don't think she knows that word...but I thought it was hilarious.

I love my nieces so much.
