Apr. 28th, 2012 12:25 pmBillings has been pretty low-key for me. The day we got here, I had my interview with WW -- that went well, but it sounds like there are at least 3 more steps to the hiring process, so it may be a while before I know anything one way or the other. I'm optimistic, though. Then Z and I went to the playing site to play in their club game and get to know some of the locals before the tournament started. It turned out to be their special club championship game, and we crushed the field with a 71%. Everyone congratulated us on our big game, but there were distinct undertones of "why did you have to play in THIS game?!"
I never did find a partner, and the locals offered to set me up, but after playing in the club game, I decided I'd have more fun just hanging out on my own. I went by a craft store yesterday after lunch and picked up a bunch of random craft supplies -- things for beading, mostly, but also some stuff I used to play with a lot when I was a kid, 'cause why not? I can't really do the beading stuff in the car, but I can do some of the other stuff, so it'll be nice to have a few things to keep me entertained on the long drive.
I'm 29 now. It feels about the same as 28. I am determined, though, not to be one of those people whose body totally slows down at 30, so I started my 30th year off with a really grueling workout in the hotel gym. I'm still crazy sore from Wednesday with my trainer -- he had me do all sorts of new upper body exercises with this new set of straps he got. They secure into the wall, and then you can hold them various ways to use your own body as resistance, and of course there's a wobbly/balance aspect to it, so basically you get to look like an idiot while doing really difficult exercises...it hit so many muscle groups that have been idle for so long, I think I'm going to be sore for a long time.
So far today I've done a glorious pile of nothing, but it's about time for me to get up and be a human. Maybe explore Billings a little more.
