The waiting is the hardest part...
Mar. 10th, 2014 09:35 amI'm gonna talk about girly things here. You've been warned.
I'm at Planned Parenthood right now to get my IUD replaced. The first time I had it inserted, it hurt so bad that I fainted. So I'm a little nervous. But I only have to do this once every five years until I stop laying eggs, so hopefully just a few more times ever. Anyway I'm currently sitting in the exam room with paper over my otherwise naked lower half, waiting for the doctor to get here at 10. My appointment was with a nurse practitioner at 830, and she pulled the old one out (it hurt like a bitch, but wasn't as bad as I thought it would be), but then when she went to measure my uterus for the new one, she couldn't get through my cervix, so the doctor will have to dilate me when she gets here. I'm not currently in pain, but the few minutes that the np was trying to get in there were pretty horribly uncomfortable. I just want this to be over...
On my way here, I had trouble finding the place, because the signage is very discreet. Finally I located it by noticing the protestors outside. They have signs that say "pray to end abortion." Very tempted to say to them, "you pray for that, and I'll pray to keep it safe and legal, and we'll see who God listens to."
Anyway, I've got at least another half hour of waiting for the doctor. I'm really not psyched about this, but it'll be over soon...
