Dec. 7th, 2015 03:51 pmI'm doing this thing where I'm giving up sugar for two weeks. Still eating fruit but no refined sugar. It's just a thing I'm trying, and I figured the lull between Thanksgiving and Christmas would be a good time to experiment with diet things. I'm hoping that this will help combat my fatigue, maybe give me a boost at the gym, and possibly alter my cravings enough that I don't feel the NEED to snack on sweet things all the time.
Turns out there's still plenty of junk food that doesn't have sugar in it, so the change hasn't been entirely drastic. But I do miss sweets pretty hard right now. It's been one week. My understanding is that once you get past the first two weeks of a change like this, it gets easier, so even though I'm only making myself abstain for two weeks, I do hope that when I get back on the sugar train, it won't have quite the grip on me that it did before. We'll see.
I guess I'm trying to get a jump on the whole resolution thing. Because I've always felt that a calendar should not dictate one's lifestyle...that said I have a few new habit resolutions in mind for the next year, starting basically now -- I'm thinking I'd like to get back to running as my primary cardio, and with that in mind I'd like to set a basic goal of running at least 10 miles each week. I want to improve on mandolin. Practice every day, have more jams, just get better. I want to keep better track of my professional expenses for tax purposes. I'm so not looking forward to doing my taxes this year. It's going to be a nightmare. What else? I guess just keep improving myself.
