Oct. 20th, 2005 06:51 pmI was mad at Jer for not scheduling his day more appropriately, but it did allow time for me to go to the gym after work. Granted, I won't be making it to Costco today, and we will have to pay for dinner from a restaurant, but I feel pretty good, so I'm not going to worry about it. I'm about to kick back with some Chinese food and watch some football on the couch in my underwear, so it really doesn't get any better than that. Well, it might be better if the football players were in their underwear playing football on a field covered in soy sauce...no...I'm really not that sick and twisted. I just thought it'd make for a funny twist. Please don't be scared.
I hastily picked out 21 songs for a mix to burn and take to the gym with me when I got home, packed my gym bag, and walked to the gym. When I got there, two of the other girls that work in my building were working out, so I hopped on an elliptical machine next to them and set it for 20 minutes on cardio. It's so much easier with good music to keep me jazzed, and I ended up doing 25 minutes and change before I got off and hit the weights. I did a few upper body machines, but cut myself off when I saw it was getting dark out. Since I walked, I wanted to leave before it was too dark for cars to see me - I was wearing all black. So I walked back home, called Jer, and arranged for the Chinese food. Now I'm just waiting for him to get home with it.
For those interested, here's the track list of the mix I made. I know you may not know these songs, but trust me, they're great. Anyone who wants a copy, just say the word and I'll email you the files or burn and snail mail a disc.

2. Woody Guthrie/Billy Bragg - Hesitating Beauty
3. Crooked Still - Shady Grove
4. Dan Bern - Black Tornado
5. Dar Williams - Better Things
6. Dar Williams - Are You Out There?
7. Eddie From Ohio - Irish Dream
8. Ember Swift - Goldilox
9. Girlyman - Kittery Tide
10. Girlyman - Fall Stories
11. Hanson - Mmmbop
12. Hanson - Runaway Run
13. Hanson - Crazy Beautiful
14. Indigo Girls - Heartache For Everyone
15. Indigo Girls - Ozillene

I know what you're thinking. Three Hanson songs?! But yes, three Hanson songs. See, here's the thing about Hanson. They're like the kid that played Peter Brady. He'll never be taken seriously as an actor or even an adult, because he will always be Peter Brady. And Hanson will always be the three girls that sang Mmmbop. But there's no denying that Mmmbop is fun, fun, fun. And a great workout tune. And then there are two studio albums since the Mmmbop days that are totally respectable. And, even though I'm married and haven't listened to the radio in seven years, I will always be the girl who loves Hanson. So there.
Also, I only had the limited selection of titles that I'd already ripped onto my computer, so I did the best I can for a five minute burn and run. And I was quite pleased with the results. I'll probably make another mix tomorrow and go back to the gym again.
Chinese underwear football time. Peace.
Oh yeah, and happy birthday to my mom! (who will probably never see this, but who I did call earlier, and who I do love very much)
