Jer and I like to wake up early and chat in the mornings. It's when we're not yet filled with the stress of the day and we generally just spend the time talking about gagarific things like how much we love each other. But it's cute and I enjoy it so it's good for me. But this morning we got to talking about money. We were talking about my engagement ring, specifically. The one we'd picked out originally (like a week after we met) is going to be ~$8000 for my ring plus the two matching bands. Jer has been working for Randy without pay for the last four months so that they can do a tax-free trade for it. The problem is, we really need Jer to start getting a paycheck, and the more I think about it, the less I want an $8000 non-functional anything. And since Jeremy is a designer now, I want him to design me something so I can tell everyone that my fiance made my engagement ring for me. I also have this thing for black diamonds. I love them. They're not as pretty as white ones, but still, I just love them. And we happen to have a very cheap 3.5 carat black diamond just sitting there doing nothing at work. So I'm going to have Jer design me a ring featuring this honker of a stone. Just between you and me, (whoever you are), a 3.5 carat black diamond will only cost him about $350, as opposed to the $4500 1 carat white diamond. So he'll use the money he's already earned to pay for our whole set...once he designs the engagement ring, we'll design the bands together, then we'll still have money left over to pay our first mortgage payment and Jer will start getting regular paychecks for $9.50/hr. Not to mention, I'll actually see that proposal sometime soon:) Rah, so exciting:)
So Jer is at church now, and I'm milling around the apartment still trying really hard not to be pissed about eating bread all the time. I guess I'm okay for now. I just wish I could eat one of those big chocolate muffins! I bought a dozen of them and only ate one before the illness kicked in. Oh well. I shouldn't be thinking about it. I should be thinking about homework instead.
