When talking about the imminent birth of a child, do you say [the baby] is due or [the mother] is due?  I mean, I know they're kind of used interchangeably.  Just curious.  My sister-in-law/niece is due on the 21st, but she's really hoping the baby will come tomorrow, because it's her mother's birthday, so that would be very special.  Her mother passed away three years ago.  I'm really excited about the baby.  I get to Brooklyn in exactly two weeks.  Can't wait to meet her!

It sounds like I'll have some one-on-one time with Lucy while I'm there, too.  That'll be way fun :)  I love the girls and I'm in no hurry for them to grow up, but a part of me really looks forward to when they're older and we can do things like travel together.  I'm not really interested in the time or energy investment of traveling with a kid who doesn't really give a fuck, but when they're old enough to appreciate how completely awesome something like a gorgeous mountain hike or an awesome folk show is, then I wanna share all that stuff with them.  Being an aunt is the shit fantastic.

I say "the baby is due" because the baby is due to arrive. However, the mom is also due to give birth, so I guess it could really go either way.

I'm looking forward to teaching Berkley how to crochet. And read a billion stories.
