Mar. 23rd, 2012 12:35 pmWe were planning to play the National Women's Pairs, but my partner had a family tragedy earlier this week and wasn't really up to the stress of that competition -- combo of national level plus bitchy women, which I TOTALLY understand. So we entered the Red Ribbon Pairs instead. We had a pretty shitty first set, but still scored at 50%, and then rocked the evening set with a 60% to qualify in 30th place going into today's final. I also won enough points from our game last night that I am officially no longer eligible to play in this event -- it's capped at 2000, and I'm pretty sure I went over that yesterday. But that only affects my eligibility in the future -- I'm still allowed to compete in it today :)
I've had a good time here, with far fewer emotional jolts than I expected. There have been shitty times, but mostly things have been great, bridge performance excepted :P Still, I am ready for this tournament to be over and to get my ass home. I'm so tired and anxious to get back to my regular routine. Three more days of competition, then we're here Monday so Z can finish what work is left over, and we fly home Tuesday. We're across a bridge from Arkansas, so I'm going to go for a jog on Monday to cross that state off my list officially (I've been to the Little Rock airport, but that doesn't count), and Mississippi is pretty close, too, so I think we'll grab lunch across state lines on Monday to cross that one off, too. That leaves:
Alaska, New Mexico, Alabama, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Nebraska. Cool.
