The bank approved our offer yesterday, so we're actually quite close to closing on the new house, now.  Probably well before our lease runs out (Oct. 31).  I hope we can get it all done by the first week of October, because that's basically the only week McKenzie will be around for a while.  We scheduled an inspection for today, but when the inspector showed up, construction teams were still working on the outside, and he said he wasn't comfortable doing the inspection until they were done.  Should be next week.  I'm anxious, but less so now that we have an end point in sight, if not set in stone.  At least it's no longer a who knows?! kind of situation.

The first order of business once we close is to redo the floors.  The previous owner's dog really did a number on the downstairs carpets, so we've decided to rip them out completely and put in laminate flooring.  We worked a little extra money into our loan deal with my folks to cover that, and we plan to do the installation ourselves.  I'm not particularly excited about that part, but hopefully it won't take too long.  Upstairs is move-in ready, though, so we could go ahead and move most of our stuff whether the downstairs is finished or not.  I'm starting to box things up now :)

Tony was visiting for the last five days, and I had a grand time showing him around my city.  I didn't have to do any of the marketing work myself -- he would constantly mention things that make Portland a great place to live, without any prompting from me at all.  I doubt he'd really consider leaving PA, but if he does, it sounds like he'd consider my neck of the woods.  I'd love it if more friends lived out this direction.  But I love the friends I have out here already, and I don't mind traveling the globe to visit the others.

After work today, I'll drive over to Seaside to hang out at the regional.  I only have a game on Sunday, so I'll kibitz a bit tonight and go to the panel show maybe, then tomorrow I'll watch the Hokie game and go for a long run, maybe even on the boardwalk.  But probably in the gym so I can watch the game at the same time.  We'll see.  I'm gonna try for 8 miles, but it's been a few weeks since I've done a good long run, so I may not make it that far...will try, though!
