jianantonicI don't feel like I did anything today, but really I did.
I went to class at 11...Abshire released us 20 minutes early (SO unlike him...usually keeps us 5-10 minutes over) because he was pissed at us for not being caught up with the reading. I can't speak for the rest of the class, but I haven't bought the books. It's not that I'm purposely slacking, it's that I can't afford them. He assigned EIGHT texts for that class, and some of them we only read 20 pages and then they're never on the syllabus again. In his other classes, I always bought the books but stopped doing the reading halfway through class. The downside to this is the texts are always on the tests, and it's never stuff we've gone over in class. But I've never gotten less than a 93 in the four classes I've had with him now, and there's NO WAY I'll get less than a B in this class (so far have an A, though). And you know what? I don't give a shit about grades. I feel good about all my classes - I'm learning a lot and we've had some great discussion. I feel bad that I'm letting the profs down by not giving 100%, but I am still doing really well...anyway.
So after class, Jer and I picked up Ray and went to see "Team America: World Police." It was very amusing. Not exactly great cinema, but very funny.
When we got home, the Vogens stopped by. We chatted for a while and I gave them my email and phone number. Since they're leaving this Friday, they're going to have me go around with Patti (my realtor) and find a house for them to buy. This excites me. I love house hunting, even if I'm not in the market;)

Date: 2004-10-21 05:29 am (UTC)Funny about the texts...most professors here just buy their own copy of the book and photocopy bits of it for students. Don't know if they get copyright permission or what. (This is on top of whatever books we buy for the class.)
