The weekend was busy but fun. I didn't get enough sleep and I'm pretty wiped right now, but in good spirits. Friday night's concert was incredible. I bought 10 String Symphony's CD and I've been playing it nonstop for two days. I just have one ear bud in right now as I sit at my desk so I can hear my coworkers and the phone. The CD is only 8 tracks, so I've listened to it probably 20 times all the way through since last night. It's so fucking good. It was great to see Christian, too. He's the fiddle player that I kinda knew from when he played with the Farewell Drifters. I helped him book his rental car for the tour, and he was all kinds of thankful. It was super fun for me to be part of the tour in that small way, and I told him I'd be happy to do all the travel research for his future tours. Right now I'm working on New Zealand for him. Perhaps I've found a new line of freelance work? I'm not charging for it, though, because I legitimately love to do this stuff. Please do not hesitate to ask me if you need help finding a good deal on a flight or hotel or rental or anything. I'm savvy and love being helpful that way.
Saturday I played bridge with David, then spent the night at the Datloff-Wiener castle since I didn't have a ride back to Beaverton and then back to the playing site again. I stayed up late catching up with Linda and then Dylan after that. Got not even close to enough sleep, and then played with Joel on Sunday. We started off with a GREAT win against one of the very best teams there -- 47-0! And then we shat the bed and didn't make the overalls. But it was still really fun, and I have some good problem hands if any bridge folks want to see them. I'll type those up tomorrow probably.
I'm working the first half of this week so I can have the long weekend for Hong Kong, so I'm at the office right now. Busy weekends are incredibly draining for me. I know, I know, cry me a river...but I'm used to my super relaxed schedule! It's rough when I don't have that. Not getting much rest + 26 hours in transit to China will be an adventure...
I just used my miles to book a trip for my friend Jen to come visit. I haven't seen her in six years or so -- she was my first trainer, back in Charlottesville, and she relocated to New Mexico after we'd been together for a little over a year. We've been trying to make this visit happen for a few months now, and it finally worked out, so she'll be here in a month. I'm so excited to see her. She has always been such an inspiration to me, and of course I love being a Portland tour guide. It's going to be a blast.
