I had a lot of fun hanging out with Nina at Falcon Ridge this year. She's almost 3, and I had just seen her a few months prior on their visit to Portland, so I was one of the Shantytowners she most recognized and gravitated to. I love being the grownup that the kids want.

Seth remarked at one point, "Meg, you're so good with kids!" Simple statement and compliment, but it meant the world to me. I haven't always been! Anyway, here are some of my favorite shots from FRFF, mostly taken by Andrea, but the chatka photo is Seth's work.

Here I am sharing a tender moment with my new friend Maude the Monkey. Teresa crafted Maude for me when she visited Portland. Lots of Shantytowners have Teresa monkeys. Some of these monkeys have their own Facebook pages...
My buddy Jason asked me before the fest which Hogwarts house I would be in. I answered Ravenclaw, and he surprised me with this lovely scarf in Ravenclaw colors. Had I known that the colors = UVA colors, I might have named a different house! Still, though, I love all the homemade yarncrafts I got from friends this year! Also, that purple hat (fascinator) was a gift from Andrea. I wore it for the entire festival. I love it. It goes with everything, really.

Nina's first chatka! Kind of :) She didn't want me to put her down, but I'm not one to miss a chatka, so I got the assist from Emily.

Thanks! I love it, too, but unfortunately my hair is feeling super unhealthy right now, so I think I have to lay off the dye for a while and let it recover after this round. It's become such a part of my identity, though. I'm going to miss it when it's gone.
