jianantonicI went to the dentist this morning for a cleaning. I have now been to the dentist twice as many times this year as I went throughout all of my 20's. Better late than never. I feel like I'm starting to figure out adulting.
Yesterday was rough, but I did some good-for-me things. Shanon came over and helped clean, and her kids were very sweet to me. Jack used to call me "Aunt Egg," but now he calls me "Maunt Egg." Getting closer! Love that boy. Went to the gym, had a healthy lunch, came home and let myself cry for a while. I caught up with my mom some more, and with Emily, and Em is going to be here this weekend. The timing couldn't be better. I did some more work in the back yard, and it felt good to get going with the garden stuff. Again, adulting.
I'm headed to the dachshund rescue to volunteer all day today. They want me to take in another foster. I will soon, but I'm not ready right now. I'm not sure when Dan will move, and while he's still figuring that out, I'm spending as little time as possible at the house to give him space. We have exchanged a few emails about logistics, but otherwise haven't talked at all about the breakup. I know he's hurting, and I think he knows that I'm hurting...I really do care about him a lot and did not want this breakup to be a cutting-all-ties kind of thing, but that seems to be the direction he's going right now. I hope that changes as time makes this less raw.
I may be ready to adopt a dog soon. I wish I could've kept Ozzie, but it just wasn't quite right at the time. We'll see. I really need to not be making big decisions when I'm in the midst of emotional turmoil. It's a hard lesson to learn, when to recognize that your own logic may be faulty.
