Jan. 26th, 2005 10:43 amHo hum.
Life is so boring without school! When I had something I needed to do for school, I could always find something to do to put it off, but now that I have no responsibilities, I'm bored by 10am! It sucks, but in the best way possible. Anyway, in my boredom, I decided to write a letter to the woman that I hope will hire me in May. Ms. Stout,
Hello! As you probably recall, I spoke with you
during the fall term about my interest in joining the
admissions team as a counselor in the upcoming year,
and you have my resume. Taking my comprehensive exam
in Philosophy and Religion on Monday marked the
completion of my coursework as a BC student, and now I
just wait until May to get my diploma. I am currently
working full time at Massanutten Resort, but without
schoolwork for the first time in sixteen years, the
free time is overwhelming. I have decided not to seek
any other career-type employment until I know for sure
whether or not I will be working for Bridgewater, as
that is by far my top choice. That said, I was
wondering if there is any way I could start working
now to get my foot in the door at the admissions
office. If there is any help needed in the admissions
department - volunteer, intern, temporary, or
otherwise - I would love the opportunity to work with
you and fill up some of my empty hours. I am very
excited about the possibility of working for the
college, and I hope that whether it is now or later
this year, there will be space for me on your team.
Sincerely,
Meg Taylor

I sound like I totally have my head up her ass, don't I? But it's true. I do want to work for them starting now, because I need something to do. I found myself halfway through an application for a temporary factory stocker this morning before I realized what I was doing and closed the window.
I just had a thought. You know how hospitals and universities often conduct research with human subjects and they pay you to come in and be tested for shit? I want to do that, but how do you search for that kind of thing? Like on google, I mean. When I type in research studies, I get a whole bunch of drug news and shit. I want to be paid to do it. Any ideas? Help me out here.
I've got to find something to do...I'm bored out of my mind. I almost want to go into work early...bleh. I'll at least sit around and wait anxiously for a reply from Linda Stout. Hopefully she's as bored as I am and will therefore get to my letter asap. But then again, if she's bored, she almost certainly has no work for me...strike that.
Anyway, I guess I should do some pilates or something. Peace.

Date: 2005-01-26 11:07 am (UTC)You should definitely consider temporary work--it's the funnest stuff ever. Well...it's actually not that fun, but the wonderful part about it is, you do different stuff every week. You don't get bored, the way you can in some jobs.
