Jan. 28th, 2005 01:33 pmI slept on a heating pad all night, which was very helpful. It allowed the pain in my shoulder to recede just long enough for me to drive home from Mom's house...then it all came back. But I haven't taken any medicine yet today - they have really good pain relievers at work, so I'm going to wait until I get there at 3 and take some of that.
I got replies back from several of the people I emailed recently with job type questions. I feel kind of like I lodged my head up Linda Stout's ass, so I was glad that she wrote back and said what she said. Basically, she doesn't need me now (my enthusiasm for volunteering there was starting to wane anyway) but she is glad I am excited about next year and will call me as soon as she knows anything. Then I got an email back from the tournament chair in Richmond. I had basically asked her for specifics, including pay, etc. Basically, they are giving me a free hotel room with Jeremy, Jeremy is going to make twice what the other caddies make for being my assistant, and I'm going to make four to five times more than they do. I mean, hot damn! In one week, the two of us will double what we normally make in a month. AND I'll be using vacation time at work so I'll still be getting paid for some of my time off! Seriously, man. I may be back at considering bridge as a career now...not pro, but directing. We'll see, we'll see.
I think I'm going to make playing with Mom a regular thing, too. Not weekly, but maybe once or twice monthly. We had fun, and it gives me an excuse to spend a day in Charlottesville here and there. If I played as much as I work for the ACBL, I could be a life master by the year's end. But then when I play with Jer, someday in the future, he'll have to play way up. Ho hum. We'll see:)
Peace.
