Bridge with Mom was great. It wasn't as fun as last week because we played really shitty at first, but we made an incredible comeback in the end, thanks to an ingenious play on my part. Going into the last round, which was four hands, we were in dead last. Then we got four tops in a row and catapulted into second. It was our second week in a row taking second place. Maybe next week we'll improve on that. Last night I felt bad because I fucked up a couple of times, but then I redeemed myself in the end. On the very last hand of the night, I made a very risky double against the opps' 4H bid. They had a 6-5 fit, but I was able to find the one lead that set them. Singleton spade to partner's ace, return a low diamond to my ace, I send a diamond to her king, she returns a spade, which I trump, then I have the ace of trumps for down two and a top board. Everyone else had made it because my seat led their club ace to dummy's void. And no one else was doubled:) I was so proud of myself! I know that makes no sense to anyone else here...

I always swore to myself I'd never be a bridge junky. Shit.

Mom and I already have a date for next week, but after that her regular partner will be back in business and our games together will be limited.

In other news, my ass hurts. A lot. Dry skin + John Wayne toilet paper = ouchie tushie. Nothing else is really going on. Lots of concerts coming up, though. Yay:)

Peace.

Ooh, what concerts? Fun!

I don't know how to play Bridge, but I want to learn. My parents recently taught me Pinochle, and my friends already tease me that I'm an old lady cause I know that. Ha!

I'm going to see my little sister (who is not actually related to me, but this is the best definition for our relationship) and her acappella group (www.wm.edu/so/accidentals) on Friday the 18th, then a folk band called Crooked Still on the 19th, with Emily. If you read this journal regularly, you will learn that my life revolves around concerts, mostly folk.

Sounds great!

I looooove hearing acapella concerts!

My undergrad advisor took at job at William & Mary. It's a great school.
