Mar. 7th, 2005 08:21 amWhy do my kitties like to eat bread? We have to keep our loaves securely hidden, or they get into them and eat it all! It's crazy! I love my kitties, though. They are so cute:) They aren't assholes like most cats are, either. They like to snuggle and play with us. They have a very amusing relationship with one another, too:)
Last night we hung out with Jay. He's a good guy, but he's in a lot of trouble right now. He got caught driving without a license, while intoxicated, with his son in the car. He's being charged with a felony over it. This is one of those things where, if I'd read about some random person doing that, I'd say they deserve life in prison for shit like that. First of all, drunk driving is a really terrible thing to do in my book, and with your kid in the car? Yow. Not a fan at all! And while I still feel that Jay deserves to fry for what he did, I hope he gets off easier. Knowing him, I know he loves his son more than anything, and he's a really good guy. He's had some problems with alcohol, and if he stays away from it, he's a great person. He hasn't had his court date yet and he's out on $5000 bond, but he's put himself in rehab. I know he can kick it because he did it before. He says he went back to it because of his separation. His wife left him and he was worried about losing Shawn (his son). Not being the most logical redneck, he decided beer was the best solution to his problems. His family treats him like shit, too. He won't admit it, but they only call him if they need something fixed, and even though he carries their business, they don't pay him shit. The thing that pisses me off is that Mike (his brother) was out drinking with them, and drove his kids home drunk, too. The only difference is he didn't get caught. And now Mike is all up on a high horse, scolding Jay for fucking up so bad and telling him that if he goes to jail (which he probably will), it'll ruin the store (he's right). Basically instead of being supportive, Mike's being a total dick, when he was doing the same dumb shit. I asked Jay why Colleen didn't do anything about Mike taking their kids out like that. He said it's because she's afraid it'll ruin their marriage. Hmm. Confronting your husband of 18 years about his deadly habits that endanger everyone you love and strangers on top of that is going to spoil your marriage? Guess what! You have no fucking marriage! I'm so glad I don't work for these people anymore! They infuriate me! And, AND - they're deacons at their church! This is why Valley Christianity infuriates me. Colleen especially uses Christianity to judge everyone but herself. So many people around here do that. Gays are bad! Hippies are bad! Atheists are bad! Let's get drunk and drive around with our illegally concealed weapons and not buckle up and tell our kids not to buckle up (Mike thinks seatbelts will decapitate you) and have some good ol' redneck fun! Praise God! I mean...?
Okay so I'm really mad about that, but the overwhelming emotion of the day is excitement. I'm excited because I'm going to hang out with Emily and have a kickass time with her today. I'm going to finally finish my roll of film that starts with Girlyman's January concert, and then who knows what - but I'm not going to work today:) Also, it's gorgeous outside. Three cheers for pretty days. I <3 life. I wish other people took it more seriously.
Peace.
