I'm about to leave to go walking with Gina, so I may have to cut this short if she knocks soon. I went to Charlottesville this morning and saw Anju and Riya. Dilip was working, so unfortunately, I missed him. Anju gave me a gorgeous silk stoll from Bangalore. I love Indian things. Riya is so cute! Blake and Holden were there, too. It was a house full of toddlers. Blake mooned me. Just like a Massie.

Work last night was trying. I really didn't want to be there, and I had kind of an emotional night. I had a few callers in a row who really tried my patience. One of them I had every right to fight back but she hung up on me before I could tell her just how wrong she was. Bitch. Oh well. Here's a funny one, though:
Caller: I want to make reservations for Easter weekend, but they told me I won't get a refund if there's no skiing.
Me: That's right. We plan to be skiing that weekend, but there's nothing we can do if the weather won't cooperate.
Caller: Well what am I supposed to do if I get a reservation but can't ski?
Me: It's a four seasons resort. There are lots of things to do.
Caller: Well I just want to ski. That's why we're coming.
Me: Well, unfortunately, I can't make any promises. We should be skiing, but I just can't guarantee that.
Caller: If I come and there's no snow, can I get a refund?
Me: No.
Caller: That's not fair.
Me: I'm sorry, that's our policy.
Caller: Well what am I supposed to do?
Me: If you are really set on skiing that weekend, you should probably look for a resort farther north.
Caller: Listen here, I will NOT make a reservation unless I get something IN WRITING saying that I WILL get a refund if there's no skiing.
Me: I guess we won't be seeing you then. Sorry.
Caller: Harumph. [click]

That was a good one.

Well, I'm back from my walk now. It was a good one. It's really nice out, in that crisp, cold sort of way. Now I feel pretty good. We're going to walk again tomorrow morning at 9 I think. Hopefully I can get Jer to come out, but he's working a double, so it's doubtful he'll agree to that. That would be a lot of time on the feet.

I got a letter from Shelly yesterday, which in itself was awesome, but it had two enclosures. The first is an old school EFO postcard, and the second was a card from Dave Carter's memorial service, with the words to "When I Go" printed on the front and Jack Kerouac's "List of Essentials" on the back, which apparently Dave had posted on the wall in his studio. It's awesome. I'm going to have it framed and put up on my walls. Speaking of that, I have so much art that needs to go up! That's on the agenda for the coming weeks, as well.

Now I have to use the potty, so I'm going to go. Hehe, no pun intended.

Peace.

That is really funny!! What are you supposed to do about it, single-handedly change the policy to make an exception for the one oh-so-special caller? People crack me up sometimes! :)
