It must be friends only, because I can't read it.

d'oh. It's about how San Diego County has built fake trees around cell phone towers to improve the aesthetic value of the land...but they look sick.

ye olde copy'n'paste would do th'trick--if it wouldn't be a betrayal of the friends-only-ness.

If you are depressed about the rapid urban sprawl in San Diego County, go on a nature drive and try spotting different species of cell phone trees. Enjoy a romantic picnic beneath the shade of one of these evergreens. If you are beyond the romantic stage of your life, just sit beneath one of the lovely trees and reflect back to the days when you sat beneath living trees. At least you should be getting excellent reception with your cell phone, or laptop computer using your cell phone as a modem. Quoted from this web page (http://waynesword.palomar.edu/faketree.htm).

I first learned about these in my Environmental Law course at college (http://www.clarkson.edu). They have put up these fake trees in California for pure aesthetic value, so that your drive along the highway does not suffer for lack of natural scenery. I hadn't realized they had a purpose other than providing soothing aesthetics. ([livejournal.com profile] ncsujen reminded me the other day about this - will Alaska need fake carabou soon?)
