Today has been fucking awesome. If you are in a bad mood, don't read this, because it is going to be full of self-congratulatory cheer.

First off, I had birthday cake for breakfast. By the time I finish typing this entry, I will probably be 22. I'm within the fifteen minute countdown anyway...not that it's a countdown because the only thing special about turning 22 is that you're not 21 anymore, which is only cool for like the first week, then you feel really young again. It's like the beginning of high school or college. You finally reach an age you've waited for your whole life and you realize that you are the baby again in your group of peers. I use the term "peers" to mean more like the people around you than the people the same age as you. It's like, being 21 is kind of the final hurdle to adulthood (unless you want to run for federal office, in which case it would be 25 or 35), but then all the other adults are older and even though you're above all those children, you're not with the children to assert your age and wisdom. You're just the baby again. Anyway, I'll be glad to be 22 for the simple fact that I won't be 21 anymore. I don't want to turn 30, I just want to get closer to it.

So the day was kind of blah. I made two more bracelets, won one more ebay auction, and started a new children's story. I actually am pretty good at this writing thing (don't judge me by my LJ!) and I've been getting lots of happy feedback from Fay Macko. So, whether or not that counts for anything in the real world, it's still nice to have your ego rubbed, if nothing else. It was probably the most productive Tuesday morning I've had in a long time.

I walked to work, despite my sprained ankle - don't know how it got sprained, by the way, I just kind of noticed that it hurt like hell - but walking was nice and I listened to my Kennedys CD that I hadn't listened to in ages because it had been MIA...but it is F now (F=found). I'm so slap happy. Sorry for my silliness. But the day has just put me in this great mood.

At work, I got to clock in early because Jan wanted to take Norma on a tour and she wanted me out front as soon as I got there. But we weren't busy at all so it was like a free quarter hour of pay. I talked to concierge Patti about crafting. She makes duct tape wallets, too. She told me she wants a table at the wine tasting but she doesn't have enough to sell. I said that I felt exactly the same way. I have all these random crafty things, but not a whole inventory of it...so we're going to talk to Jeff Reid about getting a craft table together at the wine tasting. That would rock. And since we have a considerable "in," I think we've got a good shot at getting this table.

Then, as if my day wasn't good enough already, my arch enemy called in sick. Not only did I not have to work with this person all day, I was able to work to 11pm to cover. Normally I don't like to work over because this person is usually there and the less time with her, the better. Now if only she could call in sick tomorrow and I can have a whole birthday free from arch enemies. Huzzah! So I'll get 2 extra OT hours this week, in addition to the three I'm already on pace for. Yay:)

Work was pretty ho-hum. I got a lot of reading done. Then I came home to find a SCHLOAD of great emails.
1. Do-na-na might be coming to my neck of the woods next month.
2. I'm getting a Philosophy and Religion award at graduation (but I won't be there)
3. Lisa Branson is going to see me this Friday! That's the best part. Well, okay, it's not certain, but she emailed me and offered to see me this Friday...so I think that's promising. She wouldn't offer to see me if she didn't intend to? (I've learned not to get my hopes up when it comes to this woman...but I think I'm safe in assuming I'll see her on Friday).

So if you're not absolutely sickened by how happy I am today, please wish me luck on Friday. If you are absolutely sickened, can you at least not wish harm? I'd appreciate it.

If my good day just makes you sick, remember I have a sprained ankle that hurts like hell. That should help.

Happy birthday to me! And happy administrative professionals day ot the rest of you! :)

Peace.
