EFO came on after Tracey Grammer. They were fantastic, as always.
They opened the set with "Old Dominion," and followed with "Number Six Driver" -- two songs about Virginia and we were in Hillsdale, NY, 8 hours away from the VA border. How cool. The best part was that everyone knew all the words:)
I've never seen Julie have so much energy or stage presence. I mean, she's fucking awesome, and she's never disappointed me at all, but that night it looked like she was born to play Falcon Ridge.
One of the best moments during their set was during "Let's Get Mesolithic," when the sign language interpreter had to sign "We'll hang out naked and display your privates and my rack." She was really into it, though, and did a great job of thrusting out her chest so that all the deaf people understood the true meaning of the song. Hehe.
They closed with a new song that Mike had written for his son, who was there. I don't remember the name of the song, but it was beautiful and sweet. I love that about EFO. One minute they're total rock stars, and the next minute they're devoted parents - actually they never stop being either one.
Other songs I remember from the set, but in no particular order:
Woman of Faith
Independence, Indiana
Irish Dream
Don't Think Twice, It's Alright (Bob Dylan cover)
Eddie's Drum Solo
My memory sucks because that's all I can come up with now. But I do have it on tape and if anyone is curious about what I left out, just send me a blank CD and some postage, and the knowledge and the joy shall be yours.
I'm getting to the end of my Falcon Ridge reminiscing - still to come are some great ones, though, with Dar Williams, Arlo Guthrie, and the Gospel Wakeup Call.
Peace.
