I'm kind of bummed. I got a reply from Lisa saying it will now be June before I can have my second interview, so that means it will be later still when I find out about that job. Coming out of the interview, I was really, really confident, but with each day that passes I get more and more worried about living a front desk life. Ugh. There are options - there's still real estate, which I know I would love, but I'm not sure I can afford to get started. Besides that there's teaching, which would require more school and less money, which we definitely don't have now (more loans? ugh...). I just emailed the Frontier Culture Museum to see if they were still considering applicants (I never followed up with them cause I really wanted the other job...). And I guess there's always the ACBL, my cushion. We'll see. I guess I'm not totally fucked. I mean there's still a good chance I will get the MBC job - it's just taking f o r e v e r.

I think my stress is compounded by the ridiculous dream I had last night. It was really quite scary and I can't remember a damn thing about it. That's probably for the best. I do know that [livejournal.com profile] phantomsmom and [livejournal.com profile] donnagirl were in it. But it was scary and not fun.

Yesterday was a good day, kinda. Emily and I met up early to go hiking. I forgot to take my inhaler, so it was slower than intended, but once we got to the top it was smooth sailing (that's true for most, I guess). It was a fun hike and I felt great afterwards, but when I got to work I was dead tired. I went to the blood drive but they wouldn't let me donate because my iron was one point below what it had to be. I was really bummed about that. The guy who was screening me was asking me all these personal questions, like how much money I make and shit. I was like no, you don't have to have a certain income to give blood! Shut up. And then when my iron came out low, I told him that it was really high last time I donated, and he said, "Well then you must be on your period, huh?" As a matter of fact, no. Jerk. But it is true that recently having had my period, it is normal for iron to be low, so I guess that's why. He said also since I donated sort of recently, it can take a while for that blood to build back up in my system. Okay. I left work early because I was sooooo tired, and I came home and just crashed. I must've slept over 10 hours. That's good, although my allergies are giving me fits this morning.

And now today, I'm going to Charlottesville. Yay fun. Bridge bridge bridge. Meh.

Peace.

I'm sorry to hear about the push-back on that job. :/

If teaching's something you'd seriously consider, how about getting your foot in the door with a district by subbing or working at a summer program? There is summer school, plus they are always in need of aids for handicapped children's programs. If a school saw you as valuable, they might pay for part of your tuition for certification classes.

Have fun playing bridge! Are you looking for your beads today or did you do that yesterday? I can't remember :)

Subbing, duh. I meant to sign up for that when I graduated and I just never got around to it. To the county office building on Monday!

Hope it works out! It's never a bad idea to send out feelers in ten directions, right? :)

I'm sure he didn't mean it in an obnoxiously personal way when he asked you if you were on your period. It's a natural enough thing to ask of someone who's about to lose a pint of blood. Do you take iron supplements? Being veggie can be hell on nutrients like that, though if you eat spinach and broccoli and stuff that can help.

Asking how much money you make is kinda fucked up, though.

I wouldn't have minded the menstruation question if it hadn't been for the salary question beforehand. He said that my iron was fine for someone who just finished a cycle. Normally it's pretty high, so no, I don't take a supplement. Also, the guy looked exactly like Trey from Sex and the City.
