Aug. 31st, 2006 11:08 amI was very sore yesterday after work, so I was relieved when my mother asked me to run a bunch of errands for her - it was a valid excuse not to go to the gym. I can't go tonight, either, because I'm playing bridge, but tomorrow I'll definitely go. You know you're hardcore when you go to the gym on a Friday night.
Saturday is Virginia Tech's first football game of the season, and I'm going with my parents and my brother Adrian. We'll meet up with my cousins Maria and J at the game and a good time will be had by all, as long as Tech doesn't bring out the Chokies. They're playing Northeastern, so it should be one of those no-contest games, but those are the ones they've managed to fuck up the worst in the past, so I'm not counting any unhatched chickens here.
When we get back from the game, WT, Rachel, and Lucy should be here. I can't wait to spend the weekend with my niece, and if anyone can wear me out enough for me to actually sleep, it's her. William's birthday is Thursday, so we're celebrating that this weekend, and I have the day off work for Labor Day on Monday, so once the football hubbub is over, it should be a relaxing few days.
I was invited by someone else to go down to Atlanta for the weekend, and shit, if it were any other weekend, I would totally go, and I'm really bummed that I can't make it this time, but I have my priorities straight. It is sick that bridge has become one of the top ones, but it's still behind family and friends, so that's good. I've been working on my mom to enter BBO tournaments with me - correct me if I'm wrong, bridge folks, but I think they're like 12 boards, one hour, and you can win about 1.00MP for first place? And they only cost a dollar? Seriously, sign me up. Winning our 28-board club game only gets you 1.00MPs, and that costs 5 bucks. I'm not saying I'd stop playing in the club games, but if I'm going to make sure Ahren quits smoking, I've got to keep my lead. He won two rounds in a midnight KO last night and got more masterpoints than I've won in the past three weeks, even though I've won or placed in seven games in that time (not counting Hunt Valley, where I got 4MPs).
