Mostly good news, I guess...
Jul. 8th, 2005 03:18 pmIt must just be that time of year.
Jeremy's Great-Grandmother May suffered a heart attack yesterday morning and is not expected to survive much longer. She's now in a coma. This is sad, but it is also not sad. She is 97, and lived in her own home taking care of herself right up to yesterday. Annette (my mother-in-law) says she is currently unconscious and peaceful. That's good.
Annette's father, Grampa Driver, was pronounced cancer-free last week. Earlier this year, he'd had a very large tumor removed from his prostate, and he'd been undergoing radiation therapy ever since January. He'd been really worn out, but he's finally starting to get back to his old vivacious self, so we're very thankful for that.
In other, more light-hearted news, we ARE going to have a pool at Falcon Ridge. HOO RAH. I did my pre-fest shopping today. It started with an oil change and tire rotation at Jiffy Lube, then I bought some cheapass flashlights and fans, some more water bottles, some anti-bacterial hand gel, and some Tevas. I'd really wanted to get a pair of Tevas for a long time now, and I figured with the fest coming up, now's the best time. Remember when those were so huge in the early 90s? Man.
I had lunch at RT, which turned out to be free, thanks to a misunderstanding and a kind bartender. And now I'm home, $200 lighter. Anyone want to buy some Mary Kay? I'm so effing broke.
Peace.

Date: 2005-07-10 01:43 pm (UTC)And yay for Tevas! I resisted buying them for soooo long, because they were "trendy" and I hated trendy things (you remember that phase, right?), and then I broke down and bought a pair when I was 15 and I am still wearing them. Wore them today, as a matter of fact. Will wear them to FRFF. They're finally starting to break a little bit, but I reckon they're good for another couple of years.
Jeremy's Great-Grandma sounds a lot like my great-Aunt Mallie. She lived to 93 on her own, then went into a nursing home, and lived to be 100. Really amazing woman.
lurve!
