Scary day!
Jul. 29th, 2005 05:18 pmI was scared today for three reasons:
1. The place I used to work got robbed at gunpoint. I was definitely going through imaginary scenarios where it happened while I was still there...I probably would've peed in my pants.
2. I was afraid I'd have a terrible breakout of hives and be uncomfortable all day - but I didn't!
3. Lonnie, the woman who is training me, was supposed to work today and then transfer to her new department on Monday, so I'd have one more full day of training. But she had a family emergency and couldn't be there at all today so I was on my own and I will be from here on out! Eeep!
But, I'm okay. Work was fine. I actually was able to work a lot faster without Lonnie explaining and double checking everything. The phones weren't very busy, which was surprising because today was the last day to make payments before late charges apply. I was able to sit back and relax quite a bit. The other girls were helping me where they could, but since it is the end of the month and it is an accounting office, they were a little busy to be holding my hand all day. The nice thing is, my personal duties include the daily accounting, and the other girls handle end of the month stuff. Okay, that's an oversimplification, but basically I have a moderate load every day and they have a huge load at the end of the month but I don't. I'm like Chandler, though. I can't really explain what my job is...or, no one cares.
I'm kind of pissed about a rent issue, but I'm not going to write that here. I will work it out. It's kind of putting me in a shitty mood, though, and the person that owes me a dumptruck of money is three states away. Grumble.
I think I'll go read some more Hairy Pooper now, and soon I'll be clear to read Emily's entry about it.
I still don't have a very good guess of who the half-blood prince is. The book hints that it is someone who was there many years ago, like before Harry's dad's class. I'm leaning toward Snape, but he was in that class so he may be too young. It could be Dumbledore, too, but I'm also thinking it might be Slughorn. I just don't know. I'm still only about 350 pages into the book. I just don't know...
As per Malfoy, it would be great for him to watch him buy the farm, but I think it would be literary suicide, as he is a great foil for Harry and needs to be in every book.
As I'd predicted earlier, Harry seems to want Ginny. I'm at the point now where they've just gotten back from Christmas break, and JKR hints that Ginny isn't so enthusiastic about Dean anymore. Heh. One of the biggest problems I've had with her writing thus far is that the characters aren't horndogs like most teenagers would be. I guess maybe they were the unpopular crowd before, but still, you'd think with Harry being a star seeker, Triwizard Champion, and the kid who keeps kicking Voldemort's ass, that he'd get a little more play. At least more positive attention. Maybe JKR just didn't want to write the romance because it's a children's book. Anyway.
NO COMMENTS ON THE HARRY POTTER STUFF. I don't care how innocent you may think it is, I don't want anyone else's thoughts even so much as guiding me to something I wouldn't have thought of on my own. Even if there is public information that I'm neglecting, I don't want to know, because I enjoy the mystery of it. I'll be done in a week or so and then we can talk. Maybe sooner. Probably sooner, since I work at the front desk all weekend. Bastards!
Peace.
