Aug. 17th, 2005 08:18 pmToday was a good day.
I found the secret to starting a day off right. Listen to "MMMBop" on the way to work. Damn, I love Hanson. Yeah, I said it. I effing love them. LOVE. You got a problem with that? I may be a pansy Hanson lover, but I'll kick yo' ass if you diss them. YEAH. Hehe. Just kidding. I do love Hanson, though.
So I was in a great mood to start the day. Then work started out great, too. I spent a good portion of the day shooting the breeze with Cassidy. She's the other accountant who's my age. We have a good time. I think she's going to come to the EFO show in Charlottesville with me. Yay:) We also talked about setting Melinda up with my brother. Hehe. Work was slow, which allowed me lots of time to just hang out with Cassidy. Also, my coworkers are popcorn fiends. FIENDS. You know it's near quittin' time when the popcorn starts popping in the kitchen. Every day, without fail, about 4pm, someone pops a bag of popcorn. Then we divy out plates and everyone gets a few handfulls (handsfull?). It's a great way to wind down.
Tonight after work, I called Adam and heard his GREAT idea for a website. I can't wait to get started on it...I'm going to be a helper:) More on this as it develops. It's good. I made plans with a bazillion people for the coming weekend. It's amazing how much you can do when you have TWO DAYS OFF IN A ROW! I'm so excited! Then I went to the pool, and swam 11.5 laps. That's 575 meters:) But then I came home and ate like a whole bag of peanut butter m&ms...oh well. I still feel good about the swimming! Now I'm just waiting for Jer to get home from his double shift in Lexington.
Oh, the one heart-stopping moment in my day came when I saw this headline:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/08/17/arctic.rescue.ap/index.html
That's where Emily Gercke is RIGHT NOW. I think these people were in her research group. CRAZY.
Random thought of the day: Out of nowhere, I had this memory from first grade. Emily Gercke was in kindergarten, and she was bragging to me about this boy in her class who could read like really advanced chapter books and did all kinds of wicked math and all that. And that boy was Andrew Mike. Of course, this only makes sense to people who went to grade school with me...but...that was a lot of you.
Peace.
