If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.
1. a cappella - I love college a cappella music, but especially the Accidentals. That's Emily G's group at William and Mary. They're awesome. If you go to their website, the song you hear on the intro page is one of Emily's many solos. I <3 Emily! http://www.wm.edu/so/accidentals/
2. Bob Dylan - My brother turned me on to Dylan when I was just a little kid. He's definitely one of those artists that impacted my development. And now that I'm even more cemented in my beliefs, he still provides a soundtrack for my ideology.
3. Crooked Still - This is one of the bands I discovered last year at Falcon Ridge. They write new arrangements for traditional folk songs, and they are so much fun, both on their album and in concert. Rushad Eggleston, the cellist, is the most entertaining performer of any kind. Period.
4. diamontology - This is the study of diamonds. I have a degree in it. It used to be my job.
5. Far Side - I love the Far Side comics. They make me laugh.
6. Getaway People - This is a band I discovered when I worked at American Eagle, and I had to listen to a three hour tape of crappy music over and over - the only songs on it that I liked were the two on it by the Getaway People. I saw them live twice before they broke up when I was 18. They were actually the first band I ever saw in concert as an adult.
7. Harrisonburg - This is the nearest city to where I live. I actually don't like it that much, but I figured I'd list it in my interests for the sake of getting to know more locals.
8. jewelry - I used to work at a jewelry store, I make my own, I love to wear it.
9. Mark Erelli - He's another singer I discovered last year at FRFF. He's a solo artist, and pretty much country. One of my all time favorite songs is "Take My Ashes to the River," which is on his album, Compass and Companion.
10. music - I play (poorly), sing (poorly), and listen. It's my number one hobby. If I don't see a concert every couple of weeks, I go into withdrawal.
11. Richard Shindell - Another solo artist I discovered at FRFF. He has a beautiful voice and I love to listen to his album, Vuelta, at work. I recommend it.
12. vegetarian - I am one. It means a lot to me.
