Okay, so Ember Swift. The two of them just did some really amazing things. They were using some kind of machine to record themselves as they played the songs, and then they'd play it back and they literally were their own backup. It was so cool, and I'd never seen that done before. Ember also used a distortion pedal for her mic and did a lot of really ecclectic things with her voice. It was so rad when Lyndell was playing the fiddle and Ember was playing the mouth and they were having a music-off. I can't describe it, but Adam and Jer can vouch for its awesomeness. Seriously, do yourself the favor of checking out Ember Swift. Especially if you can see her live. The CD's are good (I bought 2 at the show), but the live show, mwah!

I want to pause here to mention that Adam showed up for the entire show. He said he would, but I didn't honestly believe he'd come, because I knew he was skeptical. But he came, and he thouroughly enjoyed the show. He told Jeremy that Lyndell was the most talented bassist he'd ever seen. I would not call her a bassist, because she's so much more. But anyway, Adam was saying to me how great it was to be in that room because he could feel the hopeful liberal vibe, and it was empowering. That's exactly how I feel about Falcon Ridge, and all the other concerts I attend. I'm so glad he felt it, too. I was so happy he came!

Anyway, then came Girlyman. I was thinking that it was going to be a tough act to follow, but hey, it's GIRLYMAN, of course they'll rock. And I was right:) They played a great set, so full of brilliance that I didn't even miss the songs they didn't play (though I do wish they'd played all night long). It was about my 15th time seeing a Girlyman performance, and it was one of their best. I wanted to stop time and stay forever.

After the show, we talked to both bands. Ember actually approached me and thanked me for my front-row enthusiasm. She said she could tell I was genuinely enjoying her music and that made her genuinely enjoy the gig. Lyndell introduced herself to Jer and me after the show, and said more or less the same things. We had a good conversation with her, and I just wanted to give her a great big hug. I kind of wish I had. Oh well. I can't come up with a better word than "inspiring," but they were so much more. Ember, Lyndell, Ty, Doris, and Nate just made me feel like I could achieve anything and I was in a state of pure happiness unlike any I've known in a long, long time.

I'm so glad I get to see Girlyman again in two weeks. I can't wait!

Peace.
