Sep. 27th, 2005 04:40 pmIs today national snark day or what? Everyone on the phone has been grumpy, grumpy, grumpisimo. A message I just got off my voice mail: "Hi. This is Roberta Moore. I know office hours are Monday through Friday 9 to 5, and it is 4:30 on Tuesday, so I don't know what is going on here. I need someone to call me." And then she left her number so fast that I had to repeat the message three times to get it and hung up. Yes, you are correct, Mrs. Moore, we are open until 5. It's just that sometimes during those hours, we're actually working and can't take your call, which is why we offer you the convenience of voice mail so we can return your call when we are in fact able to talk to you. Biotch.
Earlier today I actually had someone call to ask if we had an 800 number she could use, and when I said no, she told me to call her back at her home phone number so it wouldn't cost her money. Honestly.
So I'm kind of fed up with people. We're getting our phones tweaked next week so we no longer have voice mail. Instead, we'll have a queue. Hopefully that will encourage more people to use the website or mail for their payments, because come November, they're gonna be waiting a while. John (the resort GM) told Tammi she couldn't record the wait message because she has too much of a twang. She was pissed about that, but she does have quite the accent. She doesn't think she does...but...yeah. Anyway, I hope I'm not tied up on the phones all day, but I have a feeling it'll be like that. We'll see. We're hiring at least one temp in November, and there will be another full time person here to answer the phones by then, too. I'm looking forward to not being the newest in the office.
Time to start packing up. Peace.

Date: 2005-09-27 01:58 pm (UTC)Ooooh, queues. Craziness. Not having voicemail is a pain when you're a receptionist, but really in the long run it makes the most sense. Le sigh. And encouraging web use is GOOD.
and people can be jerks sometimes. (theglazeddonut's lj talks about this today, as well.)
