I wrote to Dr. Jo, my old poli sci prof and good friend, and this is what he has to say about JR:

I think that if Roberts is an honorable person who gave truthful answers at
his confirmation, then conservatives are going to be massively disappointed
with him. He will be slightly to the right of Kennedy, but not overturn
abortion. He will also be more suspicious of presidential power (e.g.
enemy combatants) than other conservatives. He could just as easily turn
out to be a Souter.


Sounds good to me. I'm still confused as to why Bush nominated him.

well at least that's a somewhat comforting assessment...but i guess we'll have to wait and see what happens....

He seems fairly middle ground to me. I've been keeping up with this, and watching his television appearances on Cspan, but he seems like a de rigeuer fellow.
