jianantonicJohnny Cash died today. Many of you will know that this is a big deal to me. I mean, he was sick, he's not suffering anymore, he's with his wife now (maybe? I hope so?), so all that's good...but it's still sad to see the man in black go. Does anyone remember that party back in high school where we just listened to "Ring of Fire" over and over and over? That was such a blast. Then that was the first song I ever learned to play on bass. I know it on the geetar now, too. I also learned "I Walk the Line." I love Johnny Cash. Aww.
John Ritter also died. You know, the star of "Three's Company." That was a shocker. I loved that show when I was a kid...but watching it now, I think, "There is no way I understood even the slightest bit of what this show was about back then." I mean, I would watch it with my grandmother on TBS after school when I was five. Ha.
I called Adam to talk about it when I heard this morning. I figured he'd understand. He reminded me that people die in threes...not that I'm a subscriber to this, necessarily...I mean people die all the time...but we were trying to figure out if there was a third, or if a third was yet to come. I think I figured it out, Adam. My car. I am starting to think I will never have it back again. As excited as I was to get something new at first, now that I've been driving the truck for a while (which really isn't a bad car...), I just miss it so much. The great gas mileage, the compactness, the deceptively amazing accelleration, the lack of cruise control (I don't know why that's a good thing but it is), the CD player, the fact that nothing works on it and it's so cute like that...most of all the fact that I used to be the person who drove EVERYWHERE and now the car I'm in gives me no pleasure. Sigh. Small things, I guess, when there are other things to occupy oneself with...like my test next class.
My next class, by the way, is New Testament. It's actually a really, really, really great class. Who'd have ever thought I'd say that? Anyone who's had a Watson class, I guess. :)
