jianantonicI logged on to see if I could find a webcast of the BC football game. They're playing away against a higher seed today in the second round of the D3 playoffs, but they're winning as of 6:33 1Q - no webcast available, and even though I just got that score, the game started at 12, so I'd say someone's a little slow with the updates today. Anyway, I'm glad to see they were winning whenever that update came.
It's been a really great Thanksgiving so far. I've had a great time with family and friends, and I've managed to get a lot "done," too. By that I mean I haven't just been lounging around all day. On Thursday, I asked my dad if he wanted to hike at Ivy Creek with Meredith and me. I didn't really expect him to accept, but he did, and he quickly took charge of the activity. Every time a new trail would come up, he'd say, "Why not?!" and what I'd anticipated to be a short hike ended up being an all-morning, 5 mile affair. When we got home, I made the corn pudding for our feast, which was spectacular. I've been as good as a dieter can be at Thanksgiving, really. I haven't missed a day of exercise (yesterday we did a short walk around Sugar Hollow), though it's been mostly walking, it still counts. I have had a lot of food, but almost all vegetables (okay, some cookies and maybe a lot of my mother's famous rolls), and never more than one heaping plate per meal. I've really been good:)
The plan for today is to join up with some CVL folks for disc golf at a nearby park, and maybe something else tonight, but I'm not sure what. Tomorrow I'll be up bright and early to collect my husband and head for Roanoke for the Taylor family gathering. I love spending time with family and wish these get togethers weren't so ephemeral. I was talking to my cousin Lauren last night about future plans and all the what ifs that lie ahead. Basically, I have so much family and friends all spread out over the country, and so many places I like to go, I just can't fathom working a regular job much longer. I need time to travel and see all of them, and four weeks of vacation, which is a lot for most places, just won't cut it for me. So I'm going to have to figure out how to support myself without really working. I think real estate investment will be one way to go...but I'm also going to go for my real estate sales license pretty soon, I think. Anyway...that's what's on my plate at the moment.
I'm going to go try to get in touch with more folks for our afternoon adventures. Peace.

Date: 2005-11-26 01:03 pm (UTC)For the ultimate in time-flexibility, may I suggest temping? You have no job security, but you get to take a week off whenever you feel like it. And really, the utter lack of job-security is a good thing, because it means you don't have to pussyfoot around at work.
Plus houses are just fun.
