We're surprisingly slow today, and my tummy hurts really bad today so I don't have any initiative to find work for myself. I'm perfectly content to sit at my desk waiting for the phone to ring. And hoping it won't.

Why do people ask questions they know you can't answer? Or tell you things that are totally irrellevent, when they know they're just going to have to start over when they're finally talking to the person they're supposed to? My job is to take maintenance fee payments. Once that's done, people are entitled to their reservations, but I am NOT a reservationist. No matter how many times I tell people "I need to transfer you the the reservations department," they just pretend they didn't hear that, and ask me if Christmas is still available. Perhaps they forgot that when they were waiting to talk to me, they had to sit in a queue for an hour because we're extremely busy, mostly because of dumbasses who won't shut up and let us expedite the process. Honestly. Cassidy says she thinks our customers take stupid pills in the morning. The funny thing is, most of those idiots are sitting on the other end of the phone thinking WE'RE idiots for not being able to answer their question, when they're not even in the right department. Sigh. /rant.

I cemented plans today for the first two concerts of the new year. I'll be going to Vienna on 1/6/06 to see Mike Clem's 40th birthday party/solo CD release party concert and meeting up with many of my Edhead friends. Then the very next weekend, I'm going back up there to see EFO at the Birchmere for one of their few between-chemo shows. I'm really excited for that, because when I talked to Robbie before, he wasn't sure they'd be able to do any shows during Julie's treatment, but she says she's game, so wild horses couldn't keep me from going. I believe it's a three night stand at the Birchmere, from what I've heard is a fantastic venue. I'm going to the Saturday show with Kerry and Jill, and I really hope some of the other metro-area and extended metro-area Edheads will make it, as well. Seriously, that they're playing at all for the next couple of years is a blessing, but the shows are few and far between, so come on, people, make an effort.

I can't believe how slow we are at work. The past few weeks we've been so busy I haven't had time to think, let alone type an epic LJ entry. I'm not going to complain, though. Sure, I'm bored, but at least I'm not stressed and pissed off at stupid people on the phones.

Tonight, Jer and Meredith and I are going to see Pride and Prejudice, weather permitting. There's an assload of snow in the forecast, but I'm hoping it won't come until later. So far it's clear outside, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm dying to see this movie. And theater popcorn...mmmm...since I only go to the theater once in a blue moon (okay, a little more frequently than that), I allow myself to splurge on popcorn and a soda. When I was dating Rafal, he never let me get popcorn at the movies, and I would sit there and smell everyone else's and just ache for it. I think it's a psychological thing now - I have to get popcorn! I am a strong, self-sufficient woman, and I can overpay for a heart attack in a bag if I want to, dammit! Though I do have to thank Rafal in retrospect, because we went to the movies a LOT, and I'd probably be a cow of a woman if he let me buy it every time I wanted to....

Anyway...I think I've typed enough. For now.

Peace.

I'd love a venue of cow manure and malaria-infested mosquitos if my favorite bands were playing. I'm only surprised I've never done the Birchmere before.
