Jan. 1st, 2006 10:28 amWell, happy 2006, folks. I really didn't do much of anything to ring in the new year. Jer was working, so I didn't feel like partying without him. I went by the front desk to collect my midnight smooch, and I schmoozed with his coworkers for a bit. His manager has approved his schedule change, so starting sometime in January (assuming Jan is agreeable to the plan, which she should be), he'll be working a M-F day shift, either 7-3 or 9-5, something like that. There's also a management position open on the day shift - training manager - Jer put in for it, but we aren't getting our hopes up for that, because he hasn't been there for a really long time. But he is a favorite, so maybe? It'd be really nice - that's a lot more moolah. We'll see.
I know this is a major departure from the tune I was singing not long ago, BUT, now with Jer moving to the same schedule I'm on, we're thinking of going to grad school together. We're going to look for an evening program where we can each work on teacher certifications. I talked it over with my family, and my dad guided me in this direction. I'm still interested in a real estate license, so I might work on that simultaneously, but the income from that kind of job, while it can be lucrative, can also be a total letdown. That said, I think I'd prefer the more predictable income of a teacher, and to just let my trust fund hang loose where it is. Maybe spend some on home improvements, but leave it mostly alone until Jer and I have established our own cash flow. Our next big expense will be our couch. I'm so excited about this thing, I can barely contain myself. :) There will be a couch warming party upon its arrival (special order, so 3 months or so).
Anyhow, I need to get on with my laundry.
Peace.

Date: 2006-01-05 06:34 pm (UTC)Wha? Huh? You call watching SIX HOURS of the BBC Pride and Prejudice not doing much? Fie, fie. I have rarely spent so lovely a New Year's Eve, as I did watching the Mr Darcy and Lizzy elongate the cosmic boner that is P&P.
I call that a spankin' good time!
Love,
Meredith
