I had not planned on staying late at work today, but then, things don't always go as planned. I just got home. I had to miss yoga tonight, but that's kind of okay because I don't feel all that great this evening. I have a third degree tummyache. I don't know how many degrees this scale would be, as it is completely made up, but I figured third sounded serious enough to communicate my discomfort.

Anyway, I got some of my new duties today - I am now the proud accountant for Shenandoah Villas (which I'd already had) and the Summit, with all its subassociations. I am pleased. The Summit stuff was a bit backed up (understatement), so I spent the day catching up on that. Then at about 3:30, we started late notices. Since I'm on mail duty this week, I had to stay until all the notices had been mailed. I filled six large mail bins with invoices, and we only did the two smaller associations today. The larger two will be done tomorrow, hopefully all during the day. We'll see. I know this is very exciting babble.

I spoke to my boss to get some more details of my mini-promotion. She'll be doing my six month review next week so she can give me a raise. That pleases me, but the mountain is not known for its generous pay increases, so I'm not looking at a huge sum here. Just enough to pay for a few more minor luxuries. I tend to work so much overtime that even a small raise can really add up, so it's something to look forward to.

I'm pretty close to done with Memoirs of a Geisha. I meant to finish it last night, but Jer made me put it down so I could get a full night's sleep. I've got about 50 pages left. So far very good, but I get the feeling there's a lot more story packed into those fifty pages. It's a really great read, and I recommend it wholeheartedly to all of my friends. Now I'm off to go finish it. I'll do my book report when I'm done.

Peace.

That's what my friend calls great book depression. I'm afraid I'm going to have it again after this book.

Hmm, I don't believe I know you, but I do believe I was next to you at the Girlyman/Dar concert in Charlottesville. You were wearing the horse and bible camp shirt, right?

Yeah, great pics:) I was on your right at that show with my husband - and the world's worst namedropper on the other side of me. I was at that Arlo concert, too. It doesn't appear we have any mutual friends, but we do have a lot in common. My buddy Lee Brunjes works at Bodo's - you know him? I actually know a truckload of folks who work/worked there, but I'm not sure how many of them still do, given I haven't lived in Charlottesville since 2001. But I spend a lot of time there.
I also lived for a summer in Guatemala, in 2000. I moderate [livejournal.com profile] girlyfans. Maybe that's how you "know" me?

I LOVE Lee :) he actually quit quite recently to persue computer stuffs.
Yeah its amazing how many people I meet there. especially having dreads, the second another dread head walks in its like this strange dread club and we are suddenly having drinks that night lol
I couldn't have asked for a better job to meet people.
so where do you live now?

I live on Massanutten Mountain, just about 35 minutes away from Charlottesville proper. I love the mountain, but living in Rockingham County has given me a huge appreciation for Charlottesville, and I think Jer and I will move back there one day in the not too distant future.

Lee Brunjes doesn't work there anymore--Patrick and I ran into him and Paul the other day, and they were discussing Bodo's and how great it is that Lee actually gets to use his brain now.

haha...yeah...it's a long story how I got into it and I tend to keep it a secret (which doesn't help it sell all that well), but I can definitely hook you up with some lotion.

also wanted to mention that I also play an Alvarez...though it's been a long time since I've picked it up :-/
See, lots in common. ;)

I need the oil control lotion 3 and also the cleanser... Kadie went and left me with like half an inch in the bottom of each...

which cleanser? there are about 807 kinds now.

A co-op house would be rad. People joke that my husband and I run a commune on the mountain because we're always taking people in. There are five of us in our house right now. My housing dream is to build cob houses (as seen on the Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs") on my farm in Nelson County (inherited property in the perfect location - but no house). You know, get a bunch of hippies together to build them and then live in them in peace and harmony having fires and song circles every night. Some think I'll grow out of this, but I know better.

oh we should do this. what are your feelings on drum circles?
if you bacj far enough in my journal you'll find several months of entries with me packed up and rady to move to twin oaks, but then it just didnt feel right in the end... I wanted to create my own space, not just move into someone else dream.

its the regular ole plain jane formula 3 cleanser and lotion... in the white bottle with pink writing.

I don't know her, but I see her all over LJ. We're both active in a lot of the same communities. I suppose I got an email from her the other day, if she's the new street team leader.

That book is a stellar. It is one of those books that stays with you. I hope that the movie lives up to the greatness of the book. Will you go see it with me? I don't think it is the kind of movie that Link would enjoy.

Yeah, I'll go see it with you. Can we go tomorrow, though? I'm not around this weekend and I'm afraid it'll be out of theaters if I don't see it soon. My friend Meredith wants to come, too.

congrats!

That's good news about your mini-promotion! If your boss is smart, she'll give you a good raise and cultivate you for the future. Smart, hardworking employees don't grow on trees, etc.

Hurrah for you!
