The people at American Express are loving me today. They'd probably love me more if I carried a balance, but I that's not how I roll. I went shopping for three things: running shoes, hiking boots, and a bathing suit. I got the shoes, plus a pair of Chuck Taylors that were on sale at Journey's. For some reason, no major shoe store OR athletic store carries women's hiking boots. They had men's and children's, but none for the ladies. It must've been the 12th store that I found some. But the bathing suit was the tricky thing. I looked around in the athletic stores, but all those suits were way too expensive, so then I looked at Target, but theirs were still really pricey compared to the Evil Beast, so I ended up going there - and they didn't have any! Bastards. The old lady at the customer service desk said they'd have them by February 1st, so I guess I can wait two weeks, but damn. What I did buy today:
The Killers - Hot Fuss (with a gift card I found in the bottom of an old purse, so the total cost to me was $0)
Light Blue Chucks - $35
Pink and White Nike Shox - $99
Timberland Waterproof Hiking Boots - $79
Clearance shirt at Target - $8
Clearance pants at Target - $12
And I returned a bra at Victoria's Secret for +$39, which was cool 'cause I'd used a gift card to buy it, but they gave me cash back. Sweet.
I came thisclose to buying a replacement cell phone, but the guy was an asshole so I didn't want to give him the commission. I kept asking to see nicer phones and he kept saying, "Well, this is the cheapest one I've got...." I was like, jackass, I can afford it, just show me the nice phone. After pulling teeth to get him to pull out the Samsungs, I finally found one I liked a lot, so now I'm going to see if I can find it on ebay. I hate it when people try to sway you to buy something else because they assume you can't afford shit. I guess that's what happens when you go to the mall dressed for the gym.

Speaking of how people dress to go to the mall...what is with kids these days? They either look like illegal whores or depressed psycho killers. And while the mall stores cater very nicely to 14 year old girls who want to look like prostitutes, there's only one store that really supplies the grunge/goth culture, yet the mall was positively overrun with these goth kids. I used to be so jealous of people who could pull off the all black look when I was a teenager. I hung out with the goth kids, that was my crowd, so nothing against them for dressing that way - but don't they feel a little fish out of water at the Valley Mall? Or maybe that's the point. It's a look at me, I'm so different kind of thing. Heh - that's why I wanted to dress that way when I was 14. But still, you don't look unique when every other kid is walking around looking the same way. Sigh. I'd rather have a grunge kid than a navelly-pierced, stilletto-wearing, too-much-mascara, not-enough-fabric outfitted prissy girl any day. But still, whatever happened to t-shirts and jeans? And by jeans, I mean the kind where you can bend over without your g-string making an appearance. Seriously - what kind of massochist wears a thong with jeans anyway? I'm all for going commando when the time is right, but I'd never let denim touch my tender places. It's not so sexy when the jeans come off to reveal a totally chafed underworld.

Anyway, the lady from Grand called to say that our couch is in now, 8 weeks ahead of schedule (the lying sacks of shit said the price was higher because they don't make it anymore and it'd be a special order - they could've at least carried out the charade after I got the price back down to a reasonable figure). They're not going to deliver it until the end of February, though, because I told them our house isn't ready for it yet. We still have to unload our old couches, among other things....

Once I'm satisfied that my food is adequately digested, it's off to the gym to try out these new Nikes. I didn't go hiking because it's raining:(

Peace.
