Feb. 9th, 2006 11:48 amMy hands smell so good!
Working downtown, there's not a lot of free parking. Well, there is, but it's in secret places that you only learn about once you've been deemed worthy. I have not. But there is free parking at the County Office Building about a twenty minute walk away. That's great for me - I love the walk and I love the price. I also love that in my first three days here, it hasn't rained. Anyway, I'm kind of low on clothes. I actually bought new pants the other night so as not to wear the same pair two days in a row, and now on day three, I'm wearing the only other non-PJ bottomhalfwear that I managed to pack with me - my really rad grey skirt. The problem? It's effing 20 degrees outside. No matter, I thought. The past two days, I've worked up quite a sweat on this walk to work. It'll only be bad for a minute, then I'll warm up and it'll be great. Riiiight.
So by the time I got close to my office, my legs were practically cracked open by the combo of windy cold and dry skin, and I had realized another problem - my upper body was sweating, as predicted, which reminded me that I had indeed, as I had suspected, forgotten something this morning. Deodorant. Dammit. So I made a pit stop at CVS and picked up some deodorant and lotion to combat the two problems arising from my absent-mindedness this morning. And having used the lotion, my hands smell great. I didn't even sniff the stuff when I bought it, just went for el cheapo, and I really lucked out there. I'm kind of dreading the walk back to the car tonight, but it'll be good for my soul if nothing else:)
Anyway, I'm really basking in the scent of my hands...and I have a book now so I can read up on stocks and the options market and all that jazz. But don't ask for advice because a) if I told you about what I'm doing/learning, it could be taken as illegal info/insider trading, etc and b) I don't know anything about it yet.
Now I'm going to lunch.
Peace.

Date: 2006-02-09 12:02 pm (UTC)They also just upped the rates on parking validation--parking still costs the same amount, but it costs businesses more to validate. Bother.

Date: 2006-02-09 01:22 pm (UTC)Apparently being able to validate there for free depends *entirely* on who's working. I've heard tales of people getting yelled at by managers for validating without purchase. My personal philosophy is if there's no sign saying "Validation only for purchasers," then anybody gets to use it. Kind of like parking.
