I'm very much looking forward to sleeping on my new Swedish foam mattress. The only problem is, that may not be tonight. When I got back to Charlottesville and unloaded the latest of the things I brought from the house, I opened the new mattress to put it on my bed. The problem is, the fucker was vacuum sealed. Think about it - Swedish foam, that super compressable stuff...vacuum sealed. When I opened it, a set of instructions - MATTRESS INSTRUCTIONS - fell out. They gave instructions on how to remove it from its packaging without cutting the foam ("Cut the bag, but be sure not to cut the foam" --whew, it's a good thing I looked at those things before opening the bag!) and also said to lay the mattress out flat for 24-72 hours to decompress. Um, thankyou, no. I want to sleep on it tonight. So I wrestled with it. It seriously took me over an hour just to get it unfolded, and I've had it laying out since 6 o'clock, but it's not really filling out. It doesn't look good for tonight:( I even tried blowing on it with a hairdryer (Tad, the engineer, thought that might help). No dice. :(

I guess it's filling out little by little...but it probably won't be ready for me to sleep on it in a couple of hours, when I'll be wanting to crash. Actually, eff that, I'm ready to crash now. Who cares that it's only 7 o'clock? Sigh.
