I'm in McGaheysville for the day, but I'm kind of in a stupor, not getting anything done at the moment. I suppose that's a good state for blogging, if nothing else. I haven't been at my computer much of late, so I feel like I'm way behind on my life story. Last weekend was really shitty, and I resolved to myself that I would do what I could to bring about the upspin. That meant that hiking was my number one priority, but first I had to get through the week.
I hung out with Emily and Elana while they were home on spring break, had some encouraging heart to hearts with them, and put in some serious time at the gym. The weather has been positively magnificent, so I've been enjoying that as much as possible, too.
Jer and I are doing our best to manage the move from different cities with just one phone between us, that only sort of works. We're finally getting our shit together (although I feel bad because here I am over here sitting at a computer when I should be packing), and the house is starting to look ready to sell. Not ready enough, which is frustrating, but it will sell...eventually.
I'm kind of sick this week. My throat is really swolen and kind of sore, so once I'm sure that my new health insurance has kicked in, I'm going to see a doctor about that. :(
Despite this quasi-illness, nothing was going to keep me out of nature yesterday. It was the most beautiful day of the year so far - 76 degrees, sunny, breezy, perfect. Ben, Danny, Kevin, and I headed out from Charlottesville yesterday morning for Nelson County's lovely Crabtree Falls. Even with the vast political differences between us (and we are all hugely political people), we had a great time together. Everyone got along great, the discussion was always civil, and I have to give Kevin a lot of credit for not biting when Ben was pushing his buttons (mostly unintentionally). We had a blast. The hike was beautiful, we had good food, good company, good times. Kevin and Danny took lots of pictures, which will be available somewhere on the internet before long - but several of me need to be deleted from all existence before we go public with these shots. Seriously, I do not photograph well. But there were some great shots, too. We did a lot of posed photos that turned out better than I could've ever hoped - you'll see.
We stopped by Colleen on the way home for ice cream and greasy food (it's tradition, after all), then came home and went our separate ways. Now I'm here, completely zonked and not wanting to do anything. But I know I have to...so...later.
Peace.
