How can I forget?! (See inside for rant)
Mar. 21st, 2006 06:09 pmDI was Saturday!
That was fabulous. I loved judging the little kids - we had such a great time! I'll admit, I was bummed that it was only the regional (everything's so much more impressive at the higher levels), but I had a blast anyway. Jer got really into it, too. He spent the whole day watching other kids. He was also my representative when my boss' kids performed, since I couldn't watch them myself. One of my former coaches, Mrs. Vancho (aka Emily's mom), was on my team of appraisers, too. That was really fun - we were able to spend the day reminiscing. I miss being on that team SO MUCH! Few things could've made DI a better experience for me as a teenager. Aww, nostalgia...
Anyway, there was one glitch in the day. There was one lady on my appraisal team who was SO hard on the kids. She was actually downright mean at times. She was looking for deductions (which NEVER happen) instead of focusing on the things everyone did well. When I wanted to nominate a team for an award, she scoffed, saying I only thought they were good because they were the only team that wasn't totally sub-par. They're elementary school kids! LITTLE GUYS! They did SO well! Everyone did - even the ones whose skits didn't really make much sense - I mean, sheesh, they're a bunch of munchkins! Cut them some slack already. *Someone* was NOT into the spirit of DI. It broke my heart a bit - I'll probably post more on this when I have more time - that lady really ticked me off. Now I'm going to the gym, though.
Peace.
