Mar. 30th, 2006 07:37 amIt's funny how my body just knows that I don't have an alarm set. I personally don't worry about waking up on time, because I know I will. I just always do. So I didn't bother to set an alarm last night. If I had set an alarm, it would've been for 7:40, but what did I do? Woke up at 6am. 5:57am to be exact. Even though my brain trusts my body, my body doesn't trust itself. That's bullshit.
I remember having really fun dreams, but of course I've forgotten them all at this point. I hate it when that happens...
I also hate it how I thought I had something to talk about here and of course I've forgotten that, too. Bad brain!
Well, happy almost last day of March, everyone.
EDIT: I remember now. Shawn Colvin has been booked at Falcon Ridge this year. I only know that one song of hers, "Sonny Came Home," which was really popular like a decade ago (but I was more into Hanson at that time), but for a folk singer to have had a hit like that means they're automatically huge on the folk scene, even if it was ages ago that they were on the radio last (eg: Indigo Girls, Dar Williams...even Ani, really). So the story is that since the fest is at a new location, they're trying to make sure people don't stop coming by booking all these really big names. Usually there's a somewhat complete list of performers by this time of year, but we Falcon Ridge faithful only have a small list of confirmed acts, so it's quite possible they're really going for a lot of bigger names, which makes sense that it would take longer...here's a list of who's not confirmed yet but I really hope they add:
Girlyman
Richard Shindell
Arrogant Worms
The Kennedys (probably will be there whether they're booked or not anyway)
Arlo Guthrie (long shot)
They Might Be Giants (probably also a long shot)
The Mammals
Ember Swift
Paul and Storm (might already be booked, I actually haven't checked...)
Mark Erelli
Jim Boggia
...and, well, Moxy Fruvous. Hey, some people are still hanging onto the thread of hope that they really did just mean "hiatus." I'm not actually in that camp of ignorance, but I do think it'd be great if they came back, even if I do *know* they won't, so they're on my list.
Many of the names on this list are FRFF regulars, so I pretty much expect about a quarter to a half of my list will actually be there. There are more on there that have never been there and are highly unlikely candidates, but one can dream, right? It really does look like it's going to be a spectacular lineup. I just hope they throw in a few duds so I can make it to the swimming hole for a good long dip without feeling like I've missed anything. :)
Peace.
