May. 7th, 2006 11:20 amHar har, I am local, so I will beat Kerry to blogging about last night, as he still has to drive home.
Oh, it was glorious:) It was a very different set from the last time I saw Ember Swift - only two songs were songs I'd heard live before: "Ten Pin" and "Pek." It wasn't as rowdy a show as the previous, but still just as good. I love this band live. I think my favorite song of the night was "Pek." Hearing that live is just an amazing feeling. But I also really liked "Some Fine Day." I was wondering how they'd pull that off with just the two of them, because it's a very percussion-heavy track on the album, but Ember is very innovative with her equipment, and it sounded fantastic. We hung around after the show for a while talking to the band and other concertgoers, most of whom we'd seen around at other shows. I really enjoy developing my circle of friends through live music. The Edheads are far and away my favorite people to be around:) (Falcon Ridge countdown - 2½ months!)
After we left the Gravity Lounge, we decided to hit up the bar at Zocalo, Jer's new place of employment. Jer offered to DD so I could try their special margarita. WOW. That was one spectacular drink. Kerry wanted to see Miller's before we left, because it was Dave Matthews' old haunt, and Kerry is all about the music history, so we had some more drinks there. It was my first official "barhopping" experience. Except we sat out on the patio at both bars. But it counts:)
Since Ember is playing at Jammin Java on Friday, and Kerry and Jill loved her so much, we arranged for the three of us to meet up at that show, too, so now I have something to look forward to at the end of this week as well. Hopefully some of the other NoVa crowd will make it to that show, too. I'm prepared for a good time. Less drinking, though. I had a pretty rough headache when I woke up this morning. Could be partly due to the fact that Blake and Holden were banging on the door at the crack of dawn wanting me to play Dinosaur Monopoly with them.
And my iPod came yesterday, so now it's time for me to try and figure out how to put music on it - then I'm off to the gym and then the bridge game.
Peace.
