May. 19th, 2006 10:45 amI went to the UVA - VT baseball game with my dad last night. I love live sports almost as much as I love live music. UVA came into the game ranked 6th in the nation, just having taken a series from the number 1 team, UNC. Tech, well, they've won 4 games in the ACC. That's 4 out of 26. Dad immediately flocked to the crowd of people in maroon and sat down with his Hokie Club friends. They looked at the sky and did their rain dances, but to no avail. There were just a few clouds, none very threatening. At least they had a sense of humor about it. UVA did end up winning, but not in very fine fashion. They only mustered 4 hits in the game, but were able to manufacture some runs, taking advantage of really shitty Hokie defense. This is the one sport where I actually cheer for UVA ahead of Tech, but I am glad Tech was able to keep it close and not get embarassed.
Work today is tense, since it's expiration day and the stock market has been moody lately. I'll be glad when it's the weekend. Jer and I will be working on our house Saturday and Sunday, but tonight I'm meeting some pals for cocktail hour and Fridays After Five on the mall. It'll be nice to kick back and catch up with them. Then if anyone's interested, I may go to tonight's game as well. Otherwise I'll listen to it on the radio at home, if my evening on the town doesn't run too late. We'll see.
I don't have any major plans in the coming week, except to catch up with Shanon and Nancy, and make some mixes for some people who are seriously musically deprived, then next Friday I'm going to Raleigh for a long bridge weekend. I'm more excited about that than I feel I should be. Heh, I guess I'm a bridge geek after all.
Peace.
