Jun. 22nd, 2006 08:42 amIt would be easier to overcome this bout of depression if the Diamondbacks weren't sucking like they're trying to impress Ron Jeremy. Sigh.
There's also a little drama in other areas of my life these days, but it only affects me indirectly and my LJ isn't really the place to talk about it. So, I'll leave it at that. There's drama.
But other things are sort of settling down. The gym really helps. It's better than prozac. I didn't have the best workout yesterday, but it was pretty good, all things considered. I'm still really sore from having been out for so long, so I had to limit some of my exercises, but I was still able to do a full leg workout - even upping the weights on the hip abductor, quad, and hamstring machines. I had to be careful with upper body stuff, because my shoulders and chest especially are very sore. I think I missed triceps, but I did hit all the other muscle groups for at least two sets each. I got on an elliptical after weight training, but I had a really bad cramp in my side and was unable to go full steam ahead...I pulled off 25 minutes at a moderate pace before it became completely unbearable and I left the gym. Not my greatest workout, but still totally respectable.
I came home and Ogre was here to start the weekend early. He's so great - always very very friendly. Roope was home, too, and they decided they'd like to double team me after a shower. They're massage therapists, so by that I mean, I got a four-handed massage. It was awesome. Have I mentioned I love my new place? :)
I think part of the problem at the gym yesterday was that I went outside of my normal schedule. My in-laws called when I got off work - I was going to head straight to the gym from here - and said they were in town and wanted to meet me for dinner at ZoCaLo. Sounded good to me - I love that restaurant. Of course, Jer was working there, so I agreed to turn around and eat with them. The fatal flaw in this plan was that I forgot to consider the reason I love ZoCaLo so much - their margaritas. I can't drink in front of my in-laws, they'd flip. So I had water with the cheese fritters for dinner. Margarita helps, but those fritters are SPICY. They were a little much to take without the alcohol, so I drank about 10 glasses - I am not exaggerating at all - of water, which didn't hit me until I got to my car and realized, shit, I have to pee RIGHTNOW. I made it home, ran to the potty, and peed for like a minute and a half. It was intense. TMI? Sorry. Anyway I'm sure eating dinner/drinking my weight in water before working out wasn't the best thing...so I'm not going to do it that way today. Or ever again, if I can help it.
Peace.
