GREAT NEWS

I can't believe I left these two tidbits out. These two things each could be considered "best news ever," but combined, well, I nearly peed my pants...

1. ADF is going out of business! That jewelry store that I worked for in Harrisonburg and basically built my life around? Yeah, they're going under. It was only a matter of time.

2. Tracy Grammer is putting out a new Dave & Tracy CD - apparently they'd been in the studio a bit before he died and there are some new tracks, along with some tracks Dave recorded on a now out of print solo album that I didn't know existed. I've preordered mine, of course! You can, too...www.tracygrammer.com. Yay:)

Okay, that's all for now.

Peace.

Honestly I don't know how those people stayed in business that long. There are only 400 jewelry stores in this town.

Wanna do me a favor and go by the store and find out what happened? If you can find the young blond named Jaime, and tell her you know me, she'll probably tell you everything:)

If not, no worries. But I'd love to get the inside scoop.

I don't even know where they are now! Didn't they move around a lot or am I thinking of another store? When are they closing? I dont know when I'll find time!

No idea when they're closing. They're in the Kroger Shopping Center across from the mall on 33. They've always been there.

Oh yeah... I think I'm thinking of the company we used to repair jewelry at JC Penney. I'll see if I can swing by one day I don't have the bunchkins.

If you read any of my journals from the summer of 2004, you'll understand. The short version:
I loved working there. The owners made me a manager and put a LOT of trust in me. I ordered what I wanted, arranged the store how I wanted, spent their money how I thought it would be best, etc, and it totally worked. I brought them out of the massive debt from buying out their partner into the black in less than six months. I single-handedly beat their best sales year's numbers in six months. I rocked that place. Right when I was on top of my game, they brought in this two-faced bitch who convinced them I was being selfish and hurting their business (even though I did all of this for $8.50 an hour and NO BENEFITS - selfish, really?) and basically turned everyone against everyone else. When I bailed, they threatened to sue me; I told them that if they did I would bury them so fast for all the illegal activity they participated in at the two-faced cunt's suggestion...never heard from them again.

also...

After I'd worked there for about a year, and in the two years since (I'm still in touch with most former coworkers), it became glaringly obvious to me that the owners are some of the worst human beings on the face of the planet. And they're deacons in the Baptist church. Go fucking figure.

Yay yay yay! (on the CD part--I really don't care about the jewelry store.)

Yesterday I bought a Michael Clem album for $2 because some dipshit at the record store put it in the "Clearance" case! I even asked the proprietor, and he was like "Well, I guess they didn't know he's the guy from EFO. And that's the price marked, so yeah." I am excited! (I haven't listened to it yet, so hopefully it doesn't earn its place in the clearance bin, but somehow I doubt that.)
